The Bollinger Reversion Series is a continuing setup-based series under the MH Operator Journal.
It documents actual portfolio decisions made when price stretches toward, touches, or moves beyond a Bollinger Band boundary, creating a possible opportunity for partial harvest, controlled accumulation, position repair, or short-term portfolio adjustment.
The series does not treat every Bollinger Band touch as an automatic buy or sell signal.
Instead, the bands serve as a visual measure of price extension and possible mean reversion. The operator retains discretion on whether an action is necessary, appropriate, and consistent with the condition of the portfolio.
Purpose of the Series
The Bollinger Reversion Series is intended to provide a formal governance home for transactions primarily influenced by Bollinger Band price location.
It may cover decisions involving:
- partial harvest near an upper Bollinger Band;
- controlled accumulation near a lower Bollinger Band;
- reduction of an overdeployed position during an upward price extension;
- recovery of liquidity through a tactical sale;
- preservation of an anchor position while harvesting only rotation shares;
- and re-entry after price returns toward its mean or a more favorable operating zone.
The setup is based on the possibility that price may revert toward its moving average after becoming statistically extended.
Mean reversion, however, is an expectation—not a guarantee.
Primary Setup Indicator
The primary indicator for this series is the Bollinger Band.
Unless otherwise specified in an individual journal entry, the standard reference shall be:
- a 20-period moving average;
- an upper band;
- a lower band;
- and the observed price location relative to those bands.
Additional Bollinger Band settings may be used when the operator needs to assess different levels of price extension.
These may include:
- the one-standard-deviation band;
- the two-standard-deviation band;
- and the three-standard-deviation band.
The exact settings used shall be disclosed in the applicable Operator Journal entry.
The Role of the Middle Band
The middle Bollinger Band represents the moving average around which price may fluctuate.
For Micro Harvesting purposes, it may serve as:
- a possible mean-reversion reference;
- a neutral price location;
- a possible re-entry area after a partial harvest;
- or a checkpoint for evaluating whether momentum remains strong or has begun to normalize.
The middle band is not automatically a target price.
It is a reference point that helps the operator judge whether price is extended, balanced, or reverting.
Upper-Band Harvest Setup
An Upper-Band Harvest Setup may arise when price:
- approaches the upper Bollinger Band;
- touches the upper Bollinger Band;
- closes outside the upper band;
- or becomes visibly extended above its recent trading range.
This condition may create an option to partially harvest a position.
The decision may be more relevant when:
- the position already carries an unrealized gain;
- the stock is overdeployed relative to its intended allocation;
- the portfolio needs additional dry powder;
- the operator wants to reduce rotation shares while preserving the anchor;
- or the price extension offers an efficient opportunity to repair deployment.
An upper-band condition does not require a sale.
The operator may retain the entire position when the portfolio structure, valuation, trend, or strategic role of the stock supports continued holding.
Lower-Band Accumulation Setup
A Lower-Band Accumulation Setup may arise when price:
- approaches the lower Bollinger Band;
- touches the lower Bollinger Band;
- closes below the lower band;
- or becomes visibly extended below its recent trading range.
This condition may create an option for controlled accumulation, refill, or technical test probing.
Accumulation remains subject to:
- available capital;
- stock allocation limits;
- existing deployment;
- valuation;
- trend condition;
- liquidity requirements;
- and the stock’s assigned role in the MH portfolio.
A lower-band touch does not automatically justify an additional purchase.
Price may continue falling even after reaching or breaching the lower band.
Optionality, Not Obligation
The Bollinger Reversion Series follows the broader Micro Harvesting principle of optionality.
A qualifying setup creates the right to consider an action, not an obligation to execute it.
The operator may:
- execute the full intended action;
- execute only a partial action;
- reduce the quantity;
- delay execution;
- or take no action at all.
No trade is required merely because price has reached a Bollinger Band.
Supporting Indicators
Although Bollinger Band price location is the primary basis of this setup, supporting indicators may be consulted.
These may include:
- RSI;
- MACD;
- moving averages;
- volume;
- recent support and resistance;
- valuation references;
- and the TMA Gate Score.
Supporting indicators may strengthen or weaken the setup, but they do not automatically change its classification.
A transaction remains part of the Bollinger Reversion Series when Bollinger Band price extension is the main reason the trade was considered.
Portfolio Context Requirement
Every Bollinger Reversion decision must be evaluated within the condition of the portfolio.
The journal entry should identify, when relevant:
- current position size;
- average cost;
- anchor and rotation shares;
- assigned capital allocation;
- deployment percentage;
- available dry powder;
- liquidity needs;
- valuation context;
- and the purpose of the proposed action.
The same Bollinger Band condition may produce different decisions for different stocks or even for the same stock at different times.
A fully deployed stock may justify a partial harvest near the upper band.
An underallocated stock may instead justify holding despite the same upper-band condition.
The indicator identifies the setup.
The portfolio condition determines whether an action is appropriate.
Permitted Actions
A Bollinger Reversion setup may result in:
- HOLD;
- WATCH;
- TECHNICAL TEST PROBE;
- PARTIAL BUY;
- REFILL;
- PARTIAL HARVEST;
- DEPLOYMENT REPAIR;
- LIQUIDITY HARVEST;
- or NO ACTION.
The selected action must match the actual portfolio purpose.
Partial Harvest Governance
A partial harvest under this series should preserve the distinction between:
- shares intended as a continuing anchor;
- shares intended for rotation;
- and shares temporarily accumulated because of prior price weakness.
Where practical, the operator should identify which portion of the position is being harvested.
A partial harvest shall not automatically imply:
- a bearish long-term view;
- a complete exit;
- a change in the stock’s portfolio role;
- or an expectation that the stock will immediately decline.
It may simply represent the disciplined conversion of price extension into usable portfolio liquidity.
Measurement of Success
A Bollinger Reversion transaction shall not be judged solely by what price does immediately after execution.
A partial harvest is not automatically wrong because price continues rising.
A lower-band accumulation is not automatically wrong because price temporarily falls further.
The decision should first be evaluated according to whether it achieved its stated purpose, such as:
- realizing a controlled gain;
- restoring dry powder;
- reducing overdeployment;
- preserving an anchor position;
- improving average cost;
- or creating room for future re-entry.
Subsequent price movement remains relevant, but it is only one part of the review.
Required Journal Record
Each entry under the Bollinger Reversion Series should record:
- date and time of observation;
- stock;
- current price;
- Bollinger Band settings used;
- price location relative to the bands;
- relevant supporting indicators;
- position before the transaction;
- action taken;
- quantity bought or sold;
- execution price;
- position after the transaction;
- purpose of the action;
- portfolio effect;
- and post-trade review.
This allows similar decisions to be compared without reducing the series to a simple win-loss record.
Relationship With Other MH Governance Series
A Bollinger Reversion transaction may overlap with another governance concept.
For example, a partial harvest near the upper band may also function as:
- an SDA Harvest;
- a Liquidity-Driven Harvest;
- a Deployment Repair;
- or a Core Anchor Rebalancing action.
However, the primary series classification should be based on the main decision trigger.
When Bollinger Band price extension initiated the decision, the transaction shall be recorded primarily under the Bollinger Reversion Series.
Secondary governance purposes may be identified within the individual journal entry.
Initial Transaction Covered by the Series
The ICT partial harvest executed at approximately ₱1,002 shall be recognized as the first transaction covered by the Bollinger Reversion Series.
At the time of execution, the setup had not yet been formally documented as a continuing governance series.
However, the primary technical basis of the decision was ICT’s price location relative to the Bollinger Band.
The transaction shall therefore be organized as:
MH Operator Journal › Bollinger Reversion Series › ICT › Entry 1
This classification does not rewrite the transaction or claim that the framework had already been fully formalized before execution.
It recognizes that the actual operator experience revealed a repeatable decision concept that should now be governed moving forward.
Governance Principle
In Micro Harvesting, operator experience may reveal a useful setup before the setup receives a formal name.
Once the concept becomes identifiable and potentially repeatable, it should be documented.
The purpose of formalization is not to remove discretion.
It is to ensure that future discretion operates within a clearer structure, carries an identifiable purpose, and can be reviewed consistently over time.
The Bollinger Reversion Series begins from an actual transaction.
Moving forward, it becomes part of the formal governance architecture of the MH Operator Journal.
The PSE has confirmed that its Shariah screening program is currently paused, with no new lists to be released until their internal review is completed. Although news outlets reported quarterly updates up to mid-2025, these later lists are no longer accessible on the PSE website.
For now, the PSE’s Shariah-Compliant Securities page and all past lists have been removed from the public website. The December 24, 2024 list is the last official version in Micro Stock Trader’s possession, downloaded before the page was taken down, although other investors may still hold later copies such as the reported July 4, 2025 release.
