The MONDE Dilemma — Why We Decided to Keep It in Two Portfolios

Board Lot Warrior › Subok Series › Portfolio Alignment Notes

An illustration of a man thinking at his laptop, with two labeled icons beside him: “MONDE Halal Core” and “MONDE-Only,” symbolizing the portfolio alignment dilemma discussed in the blog post.

Understanding why MONDE deserves a place in both the Halal Core Growth and MONDE-Only portfolios.

This post is our honest reflection on the MONDE dilemma — at kung paano natin nahanap ang tamang direksyon.

Introduction: The Moment We Realized… “Uy, Overlap na pala.”

Habang inaayos natin ang apat na live portfolios — Tactical Rotation Fund (TRF), Halal Core Growth Fund (HCGF), MONDE-Only Fund, at Ethical Turnaround Picks — bigla tayong napaisip:

“Sandali…
At magsisimula pa tayo ng MONDE-Only?”

Classic problem ng multi-portfolio management: overlap.

That moment forced us to pause and ask ourselves:

Should we keep MONDE in multiple funds…

Step 1: The Easy Part — Exiting MONDE from Tactical Rotation Fund

This was straightforward.

TRF is a momentum rotation portfolio.
Halal Core is long-term halal growth.
MONDE-Only is single-stock mastery.

Exit MONDE from Tactical Rotation Fund.

TRF is for momentum.
MONDE is for growth and conviction.
Hindi sila dapat magkasama.

Clear-cut decision. Finish.

Pero…

Doon na pumasok ang tunay na dilemma.

Step 2: The Real Conflict — Halal Core vs MONDE-Only

Habang mas iniisip natin, mas gumugulo ang everything.

If we keep MONDE inside:

  • Halal Core

  • AND MONDE-Only Fund

…magkakaroon tayo ng double exposure.

Pero if we remove MONDE from Halal Core to put it entirely in MONDE-Only…

So we asked ourselves:

And that was the turning point.

Step 3: Purpose Overlap vs Stock Overlap

  • Tactical Rotation Fund → momentum

  • Halal Core Growth → long-term halal compounding

  • MONDE-Only → deep single-stock mastery

These are not duplicates.
Even if parehong MONDE, iba ang role niya sa bawat universe.

At ang pinakaimportante:

Hindi lumalabag ang overlap sa Islamic principles
(basta walang excessive uncertainty and risk concentration).

Step 4: The Decision — Keep MONDE in TWO Funds

After a long internal debate, eto ang final na hatol:

✔ Keep MONDE inside Halal Core Growth

— dahil siya’y halal, consumer staple giant, and a pillar of long-term compounding.

✔ Keep MONDE inside MONDE-Only

✘ Remove MONDE from Tactical Rotation Fund

— dahil hindi ito pang-momentum play dito.

At kapag tinignan mo nang mabuti…

**It’s perfectly logical.

Perfectly clean.
Perfectly aligned.**

MONDE-Only MONDE = para sa deep research and cycle-based mastery.

Two MONDEs, two missions, zero conflict.

A Lesson We Didn’t Expect Today

Napaka-simple ng tanong…
pero napaka-lawak ng insight.

Today we learned:

You don’t build portfolios based on stock exclusivity.
You build them based on portfolio purpose.

And ironically,
the MONDE dilemma made our entire portfolio architecture stronger.

TRF, Halal Core, MONDE-Only, Ethical Turnaround, and Jimmy Series.

Walang nag-o-overstep.
Walang nag-aagawan ng role.
Walang naliligaw na stock.

Final Reflection — “Sometimes the market teaches you through structure.”

Today’s dilemma was not about MONDE.

It was about understanding who we are as traders:

  • May halal compass

  • May conviction

  • May tactical side

  • May mastery mindset

  • May heart for small traders

  • May tawakkul in every decision

Alhamdulillah for clarity.

The next step is decisive and structural:
