Hindi na bumalik ang MER sa pinakamababang entry area natin na ₱454–₱462.50. Sa halip, nagpatuloy tayo sa pagbuo ng dividend position near the lower Bollinger Band at within the Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone.

Ang Punto ng Usapan

On August 4, 2026, we completed another accumulation sequence in MER through three separate executions:

Purchase 1: 10 shares at ₱486.40
Purchase 2: 10 shares at ₱486.00
Purchase 3: 10 shares at ₱484.20

The combined transaction added:

30 shares at a gross weighted-average execution price of approximately ₱485.53

After the purchases, our official MER position became:

Number of Shares: 90
Average Price Net: ₱488.1283
Capital Deployed: approximately ₱43,931.55
MER Capital Allocation: ₱100,000
Deployment: approximately 43.93%
Remaining Allocation Capacity: approximately ₱56,068.45

The trade was not made because MER had returned to our deepest purchase prices.

It had not.

Instead, the price remained near the lower Bollinger Band and within the valuation range that we had already identified as the:

Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone

Ang Dating Paniniwala

After our August 3 purchases at ₱454 and ₱462.50, we initially considered the possibility that MER might revisit those deep-stress prices.

But the Bollinger Band structure had already begun adjusting.

The lower band moved toward the high-₱470s, while price began stabilizing above the extreme event low.

That changed the practical question.

Hindi na lamang:

Makakabalik pa kaya sa ₱454?

Mas naging relevant ang:

Should we continue building the position while MER remains near the lower band and inside the 15%–20% margin-of-safety zone?

Under the updated ₱595 fair value:

15% MOS: ₱505.75
20% MOS: ₱476.00
25% MOS: ₱446.25

Therefore, the broader exact 15%–20% MOS range is:

₱476.00–₱505.75

For practical portfolio use, we simplified its central portion to:

₱480–₱500: Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone

All three August 4 purchases were made inside that zone.

Ang Binagong Pananaw

The purchases have two valid classifications because we viewed them through two different lenses.

Technical Classification

Near-Lower-Band Dividend Accumulation

This describes where the executions occurred relative to the Bollinger Band.

Valuation Classification

Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation

This describes where the executions occurred relative to the updated ₱595 fair value.

The technical label answers:

Where were we on the chart?

The valuation label answers:

Why was the price acceptable for ownership?

Together, the full classification becomes:

MER Near-Lower-Band Dividend Accumulation within the Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone

That is the proper characterization of Journal Entry 5.

Paano Ito Umaandar

The Three Executions

The purchases were completed as follows:

First Execution

10 shares at ₱486.40

Second Execution

10 shares at ₱486.00

These first two executions formed one complete 20-share capital block at a gross weighted-average price of:

₱486.20

Third Execution

10 shares at ₱484.20

The third purchase extended the completed block by another 10 shares as the price weakened further during the session.

Combined:

30 shares at approximately ₱485.53 gross weighted average

The gross capital used for the three purchases was:

₱14,566.00

The broker-adjusted position after fees is reflected in the official net average price of:

₱486.9657

The August 4 Closing Chart

At the close of August 4, 2026, MER recorded:

Open: ₱491.00
High: ₱502.00
Low: ₱482.00
Close: ₱485.00
Daily Change: -₱2.00 or -0.41%

The Bollinger Band readings shown on the daily chart were approximately:

Middle Band: ₱560.30
Upper Band: ₱641.80
Lower Band: ₱478.80

The closing price of ₱485 remained only:

₱6.20 above the lower Bollinger Band

That placed the stock close enough to the lower band to preserve the technical description of near-lower-band accumulation.

But the chart had not yet confirmed a trend reversal.

The MACD remained deeply negative:

MACD Line: approximately -22.5
Signal Line: approximately -11.8
Histogram: approximately -10.7

The RSI was:

24.25

This remained in deeply oversold territory.

The chart therefore showed two things at once:

  • price was attempting to stabilize near the lower Bollinger Band;
  • but bearish momentum remained strong.

This was not a confirmed recovery purchase.

It was still an accumulation during weakness.

The Valuation Reading

At the gross weighted-average execution price of approximately ₱485.53, the discount from the ₱595 updated fair value was approximately:

18.40%

That placed the combined purchase comfortably within the 15%–20% margin-of-safety range.

The individual executions also remained inside that valuation zone:

₱486.40: approximately 18.25% MOS
₱486.00: approximately 18.32% MOS
₱484.20: approximately 18.62% MOS

So even without the Bollinger Band signal, the purchases had a clear valuation basis.

The lower band improved execution.

The margin of safety justified ownership.

A Small Deviation From the Post 7 Deployment Plan

In MER Stock Study, Post 7, we proposed a staged deployment plan.

The main operating target was to build toward:

Approximately 60%–70% deployment before the dividend record date

We also preferred accumulation in complete 20-share capital blocks.

Journal Entry 5 involved a small deviation from that preferred execution structure.

The first two purchases formed one complete 20-share block.

The third 10-share purchase created an additional half-block.

So instead of stopping at 80 shares, we extended the position to:

90 shares

This was a minor operational deviation—not a breach of the capital-allocation rule.

The reason was that:

  • price remained near the lower Bollinger Band;
  • the third execution at ₱484.20 offered a slightly better price;
  • all purchases remained inside the Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone;
  • and total deployment remained below 50%.

The deviation did not exceed the approved ₱100,000 allocation.

It also did not move the position prematurely toward full deployment.

Still, it should be documented plainly:

We preferred complete 20-share blocks, but accepted an additional 10-share extension because the price remained technically and valuationally qualified.

That extension should not automatically redefine 10 shares as the new standard block.

For succeeding transactions, the preferred accumulation unit remains:

20 shares per capital block

Current Deployment Status

After Journal Entry 5:

Position: 90 shares
Average Price Net: ₱488.1282
Capital Deployed: ₱43,931.54
Deployment: 43.93%
Remaining Allocation: ₱56,068.46

This places MER near—but still below—the practical 50% deployment level that the 15%–20% MOS zone can support.

A further complete 20-share block within the same price zone would bring the position to:

110 shares

At a hypothetical price near ₱480–₱490, deployment would rise to approximately:

53%–54%

That would slightly exceed the rounded 50% intermediate target but would remain well below the full ₱100,000 ceiling.

For cleaner block discipline, we do not need to force deployment to land exactly at 50%.

The more useful principle is:

The Core Margin-of-Safety Zone can support approximately half deployment, while deeper discounts retain priority for the remaining capital.

Estimated Dividend Participation

MER’s latest declared interim cash dividend is:

₱11.758 per share

For the current 90-share position, the estimated gross dividend participation is:

₱1,058.22

This is before applicable withholding taxes and broker processing.

The dividend record date is August 28, 2026, with payment scheduled for September 23, 2026.

The position has therefore grown from a small visibility holding into a more meaningful dividend-participating position.

But the dividend was not the sole reason for buying.

The purchases were supported by:

  • updated fair value;
  • margin of safety;
  • portfolio role;
  • lower-band proximity;
  • and available capital allocation.

Formal transaction description:

MER Near-Lower-Band Dividend Accumulation within the Core Margin-of-Safety Accumulation Zone

Pangwakas na Kaisipan

The lowest MER entries at ₱454 and ₱462.50 came during an exceptional price overshoot.

We could have continued waiting for those prices to return.

But the lower Bollinger Band had already adjusted toward ₱479, while MER remained inside the 15%–20% margin-of-safety range.

So we did not require the market to repeat the exact event low.

Instead, we used the price zone that the updated valuation had already established as appropriate for accumulation.

The first 20 shares at a ₱486.20 average formed a complete capital block.

The additional 10 shares at ₱484.20 were a small extension—slightly outside our preferred whole-block structure, but still within the same technical and valuation setup.

We record that deviation because MH values governance.

Hindi naman kailangang gawing malaking kasalanan ang bawat maliit na adjustment. Pero kailangang malinaw kung saan tayo lumihis at bakit natin ginawa.

After the transaction, MER reached 90 shares and approximately 43.93% deployment.

That leaves more than half of the ₱100,000 allocation available.

We have participated.

But we have not exhausted our optionality.

Journal Entry 5 did not attempt to catch the bottom. It continued building ownership where the lower Bollinger Band and the Core Margin-of-Safety Zone met.

Shariah Compliance Advisory (Updated Nov 26, 2025)

The PSE has confirmed that its Shariah screening program is currently paused, with no new lists to be released until their internal review is completed. Although news outlets reported quarterly updates up to mid-2025, these later lists are no longer accessible on the PSE website.

MH Operator Journal Entry 4 showing MER purchases at ₱454 and ₱462.50 before its August 3, 2026 close at ₱487
Two MER purchases completed the approved lower-band accumulation program as the stock recovered sharply from its August 3 intraday low.

We completed our approved 40-share MER accumulation through two execution legs: 20 shares during deep intraday stress, followed by 20 shares after the price began recovering. By market close, the stock had nearly re-entered its lower Bollinger Band—but the broader technical damage remained unresolved.

Ang Punto ng Usapan

On August 3, 2026, we completed the additional MER accumulation program that we had previously authorized.

The transaction was executed in two stages.

Transaction Leg 1

Shares Purchased: 20
Purchase Price: ₱454.00 per share
Gross Purchase Amount: ₱9,080.00

Transaction Leg 2

Shares Purchased: 20
Purchase Price: ₱462.50 per share
Gross Purchase Amount: ₱9,250.00

Combined New Purchase

Additional Shares: 40
Gross Purchase Amount: ₱18,330.00
Gross Weighted Average Execution Price: ₱458.25 per share

After both executions:

Total MER Position: 60 shares
Exact Average Price Net: ₱488.7095 per share
Exact Capital Deployed: ₱29,322.57
Deployment Against ₱100,000 Allocation: 29.32%
Remaining Allocation Capacity: ₱70,677.43

The two transactions completed the maximum 40-share accumulation allowance established for the present event-stress phase.

Ang Dating Paniniwala

Kapag may dalawang purchases sa parehong trading day, madaling pagsamahin ang mga iyon bilang simpleng averaging down.

Parang ganito lamang:

Only then did we purchase the remaining 20 shares at the higher price of ₱462.50.

So while both transactions belonged to one accumulation program, they did not serve exactly the same purpose.

The first tranche bought extreme weakness.

The second tranche followed the market’s initial response.

Ang Binagong Pananaw

The cleanest treatment remains:

One MH Operator Journal entry with two execution legs

Parehong stock, parehong trading session, parehong valuation thesis, at parehong bahagi ng previously approved 40-share BRS accumulation program.

But each leg deserves its own classification.

First 20 Shares at ₱454

BRS Deep Lower-Band Accumulation — Valuation-Stress Tranche

This was the aggressive entry near the intraday stress low.

Second 20 Shares at ₱462.50

BRS Early Reversion Follow-Through — Below-Band Recovery Tranche

This was purchased only after the price began recovering.

Combined Classification

BRS Lower-Band Accumulation Program — Deep-Stress Entry Followed by Early-Reversion Follow-Through

The distinction is important because the full 40 shares were not committed while the stock was still falling in one direction.

We used half the allowance during deep stress.

We used the remaining half after buyers began responding.

Paano Ito Umaandar

Transaction Leg 1: Buying the Deep Stress

The first purchase was executed at:

₱454 per share

The day’s eventual low was:

₱451.20

That placed the first transaction very close to the deepest intraday stress point.

At that moment, the chart was showing:

  • price far below the lower Bollinger Band;
  • deeply oversold RSI;
  • sharply negative MACD;
  • heavy volume;
  • and broken medium- and long-term trend structure.

There was no confirmed reversal.

The first transaction therefore relied on:

  • extreme lower-band displacement;
  • a price below the previous ₱480 margin-of-safety reference;
  • continued support from the existing valuation thesis;
  • and a predefined position-size limit.

This was not a confirmation trade.

It was a controlled acceptance of uncertainty at a deeply discounted price.

Transaction Leg 2: Adding After the Initial Response

The second purchase was executed at:

₱462.50 per share

By then, the price had begun moving upward from the ₱454 area.

We paid more than the first execution price because the market had started showing an initial response to the intraday weakness.

This did not amount to full technical confirmation.

The stock remained below its lower Bollinger Band, momentum remained negative, and the larger technical structure was still damaged.

But the second execution was no longer a purchase into uninterrupted decline.

It represented:

Early participation in a possible reversion before full band re-entry

We surrendered some price advantage in exchange for a small amount of market evidence.

The August 3 Closing Chart

The final daily candle closed with the following figures:

Open: ₱474.00
High: ₱490.00
Low: ₱451.20
Close: ₱487.00
Daily Change: +₱7.00 or +1.46%
Volume: approximately 1.034 million shares

This closing chart materially improves the reading compared with the earlier intraday snapshot.

The stock recovered:

  • ₱35.80 from the day’s low
  • and closed only ₱3.90 below the lower Bollinger Band at approximately ₱490.90.

In percentage terms, the closing price was less than 1% below the lower band.

That means MER did not yet complete a clean Bollinger Band re-entry—but it came very close.

The candle also developed a long lower wick, showing that prices near the ₱451 area were rejected by buyers before the close.

This strengthens the interpretation of the second transaction as an early-reversion follow-through tranche.

But it does not establish that the larger decline is over.

What the Indicators Said at the Close

Bollinger Bands

Middle Band: approximately ₱565.00
Upper Band: approximately ₱639.00
Lower Band: approximately ₱490.90
Closing Price: ₱487.00

The close remained slightly below the lower band.

Reading:

Strong recovery from deep displacement, but no confirmed band re-entry yet.

RSI

The RSI closed at approximately:

24.58

This improved from the more deeply oversold intraday condition but remained below 30.

Reading:

Oversold recovery in progress, but momentum has not normalized.

MACD

The MACD remained deeply negative and below its signal line.

Reading:

Downside momentum remained dominant despite the strong intraday recovery.

Volume

Volume remained elevated at approximately 1.034 million shares.

Reading:

The rejection of lower prices occurred with meaningful participation, but elevated volume also confirms that MER remained in an abnormal event-driven trading environment.

Did the Close Confirm the Second Purchase?

The close at ₱487 does not retroactively guarantee that the second purchase was correct.

But it supports the execution logic.

The second tranche at ₱462.50 ended the session approximately:

5.30% below the closing price

The first tranche at ₱454 ended the session approximately:

7.27% below the closing price

More important than the same-day gain was the sequence.

We did not add the second 20 shares simply because the price remained cheap.

We added after seeing that the stock had begun moving away from its stress low.

The close near the lower Bollinger Band confirms that the upward response continued through the end of the session.

Valuation Context

The pre-event valuation references remained:

Indicative Fair Value: ₱600
Ordinary Buy-Below Reference: ₱510
Stronger Margin-of-Safety Reference: ₱480

Both new purchases occurred below the stronger ₱480 reference.

The first purchase at ₱454 was approximately:

24.33% below the ₱600 fair-value anchor

The second purchase at ₱462.50 was approximately:

22.92% below the same reference

The weighted average execution price of the additional 40 shares was ₱458.25.

That was approximately:

23.63% below the pre-event indicative fair value

The closing price of ₱487 moved back above the weighted average purchase price of the new 40-share block.

However, the consolidated position remained slightly below break-even because of the original higher-cost shares and transaction charges.

Position Effect at Market Close

The completed position stood at:

Position: 60 shares
Average Price Net: ₱488.7095
Total Capital Deployed: ₱29,322.57

At the ₱487 closing price:

Net Market Value: ₱29,104.58
Unrealized Difference: approximately −₱217.99
UPL: approximately −0.74%

The position therefore ended the day almost at break-even.

That was a substantial improvement from the earlier intraday condition.

The 40-share accumulation also reduced the average price from:

₱547.0260 to ₱488.7095

That is a reduction of:

₱58.3165 per share

or approximately:

10.66%

The consolidated average price now sits:

  • below the ₱510 ordinary buy-below reference;
  • slightly above the ₱480 stronger margin-of-safety reference;
  • and very close to the August 3 closing price.

Risk and Deployment Reading

MER’s approved capital allocation remains:

₱100,000

After the completed accumulation:

Capital Deployed: ₱29,322.57
Deployment: 29.32%
Remaining Capacity: ₱70,677.43

The position has become meaningful.

It has tripled from 20 shares to 60 shares.

But more than 70% of the MER allocation remains undeployed.

This matters because the closing recovery did not remove the larger risks:

  • the stock remained below its lower Bollinger Band;
  • RSI remained oversold;
  • MACD remained deeply negative;
  • the long-term moving averages remained far above the price;
  • and the event-driven valuation narrative remained unresolved.

So while the session closed constructively, it did not reopen the accumulation allowance.

Has the Current Accumulation Program Been Completed?

Yes.

The previously approved additional 40 shares have now been fully purchased.

The current position is:

60 shares at ₱488.7095 average price net

No further purchase should be treated as an automatic continuation of the same setup.

A future addition would require new evidence and a new journal authorization.

Possible evidence may include:

  • a confirmed close back inside the Bollinger Band;
  • follow-through above the lower band;
  • formation of a higher low;
  • RSI recovery from oversold territory;
  • stabilization of MACD deterioration;
  • or updated fundamental and valuation confirmation.

The August 3 close was encouraging.

But it was not enough to authorize another tranche by itself.

Updated BRS Reading

Price Location

The price recovered sharply but closed slightly below the lower Bollinger Band.

Reading: Lower-Band Accumulation Bias remains active.

Intraday Structure

The stock rejected the ₱451.20 low and closed at ₱487.

Reading: Strong initial downside rejection.

Momentum

RSI improved but remained oversold. MACD remained deeply negative.

Reading: Early reversion attempt without confirmed momentum reversal.

First Execution

20 shares at ₱454.

Reading: Deep-Stress Accumulation.

Second Execution

20 shares at ₱462.50 after the price began rising.

Reading: Early-Reversion Follow-Through.

Closing Confirmation

The stock closed near—but still below—the lower Bollinger Band.

Reading: The initial recovery was sustained through the close, but band re-entry remained incomplete.

Final Classification

BRS Lower-Band Accumulation Program — Deep-Stress Entry Followed by Early-Reversion Follow-Through

Mechanical Status

Accumulation program completed. Further buying requires a new setup and authorization.

Was the Execution Reasonable?

Yes.

The completed execution was reasonable because:

  • the first tranche captured extreme intraday stress;
  • the second tranche waited for an upward market response;
  • both purchases were below the stronger margin-of-safety reference;
  • the price recovered close to the lower Bollinger Band by market close;
  • the 40-share accumulation stayed within the predefined maximum;
  • and total deployment remained below 30% of the approved allocation.

The closing chart strengthened the transaction narrative.

But it did not eliminate the need for restraint.

The most important governance decision after the purchase was not another order.

It was stopping after the authorized 40 shares.

Pangwakas na Kaisipan

The August 3 transaction began in deep stress and ended with MER almost back inside its lower Bollinger Band.

We first bought 20 shares at ₱454 near the session’s lowest zone.

When the price began recovering, we bought another 20 shares at ₱462.50.

By market close, MER had reached ₱487—just below the lower band at approximately ₱490.90.

The result was encouraging.

But the day did not produce a full technical reversal.

It produced something earlier and less certain:

A strong rejection of the low and an initial attempt at mean reversion.

That is enough to explain the sequencing of the two purchases.

It is not enough to justify another one.

The position now stands at 60 shares with an exact average price net of ₱488.7095.

The current accumulation program is complete.

The remaining allocation stays protected while we wait for the next evidence.

Aba’y maganda ang naging sagot ng presyo bago mag-closing.

Pero sa MH 2.0, hindi porke’t sumagot na ang market ay tayo naman ang sunod-sunod na magsasalita.

We bought the stress, followed the first response, and stopped before confidence became overcommitment.
