A small holding can mark a stock for closer study. Its presence in our account is only a starting point, not an instruction to add more.

What is a marker?
Sa listahang ginagamit namin sa aming DragonFi PERA account, may 41 stocks at the time this post was published. That is our available selection list, not a shopping target. We may buy one board lot of a stock we want to study as a Universe Marker Position. It places a small, actual holding in our portfolio and lets us record its purchase cost and the reason we entered.A marker is still real money at risk. One board lot can be costly for some stocks, so “small” must be assessed in pesos and as a share of our account, not assumed from the lot count alone. We need a reason to buy even the first lot.
What does it help us observe?
We can compare later price movement, company developments, and portfolio impact with the reason for our initial purchase. A marker asks a useful question: what evidence would justify allocating more capital? If that evidence does not appear, we have no obligation to add.Not all 41 stocks need a marker. Inclusion in the available list is one decision point; making a first purchase is another; increasing the allocation is a third. These decisions should not happen automatically as a chain.
How may a marker progress?
It may stay small while we observe it. We may add after a fresh assessment of the business, price, cash available, and portfolio allocation. We may also sell if the reason for holding it no longer stands. A lower price alone does not require an additional purchase, just as a higher price does not prove our initial decision was sound. For now, our rule is simple: one board lot may start an observation position; every later allocation needs a new decision. We will put the current, detailed version of this rule on the website when that guide is ready. This dated article records why we use the idea.
Read our broader PERA method, then continue to how our retirement account connects with the capital markets. Return to The Journey So Far for the publication recap.
This is a record of our process, not a recommendation to buy every stock in a PERA selection list.

Shariah Compliance Advisory (Updated September 9, 2026)
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) has officially confirmed that it has ceased publishing its list of Shariah-compliant securities.
In November 2025, the PSE informed Micro Stock Trader that its Shariah initiative had been temporarily paused for an internal evaluation. In a subsequent email dated September 9, 2026, the PSE clarified:
“Please be informed that PSE has officially ceased publication of Shariah-compliant securities.”
Accordingly, Micro Stock Trader will continue applying a conservative, independently screened approach to its halal-focused investment strategies, in shā’ Allāh. This screening forms part of our personal portfolio governance and does not constitute an official Shariah certification or religious ruling.
